I saw him in Pittsburgh about ten years ago. He's more of a smooth jazz player than tending to exhibiting musicianship. He had a solid drummer with him but I got bored after one song.
Am thinking of going to see him at ronnie scotts this month....have deliberated for several years....due to that fact that ive always winded up near ronnie's on a sat night when it costs ?20 to get in and im not sure what hes about.
i know hes a vibes player, but not sure what type of music and line up it is.
anyone know?

He's very 'showy' and attracts a different croud to the normal Ronnies regulars. The drummer is called Dennis Davis I think (I could be wrong) and is a fantastic groover with loads of chops - more than my butcher in fact!
It's fairly cheesy and OTT so be prepared! You won't see me there.....

Dennis davis is great. I've got him on video with stevie wonder's band from the S.W. birthday concert years ago. Pretty versatile, cos davis is also on bowie's 'station to station' album. Remember that one?
Well, if Davis has played w Wonder & Bowie, he certainly can't be too bad, now, can he? ;c)
